The Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation was founded in July 2011 by the Ortyl Family - Greg, Becky, Isla and Mighty Oakes. The foundation was established following Oakes' diagnosis of a congenital heart defect named truncus arteriosus and the several surgeries that were required in an attempt to treat Oakes' condition. The mission of the foundation is to provide financial support to help families coping with the traumatic reality of congenital heart defect as well as to provide funding support for research focused on improving the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects.
